He is the best sports handicapper in the history of Las Vegas. He used to be called "Las Vegas King", "Guru", or something that he surely is: a genius. He inaugurated the first sports and race book, at Stardust Hotel & Casino. Every casino in Las Vegas copied his invention afterwards. Rosenthal himself describes him as a "a very skilled mind".

George Wingfield

The two "kings" were preceded by George Wingfield, a major figure in the history of Nevada, since 1912. He used to be characterised as "the owner and operator of Nevada". Two businesses got him the glory: mining and gambling. He moved to Nevada at the beginning of the 20^th century. As an active politician he struggled to get gambling and divorce legalised. Gambling was re-legalised in the state of Nevada in 1931. The same year, the famous six-weeks divorce law was approved. Ironically, nowadays, 230 marriage licenses are issued every day in Las Vegas.

The gold mine of America

After South Africa, the state of Nevada is the largest gold producer in the world. Golden Nugget Hotel displays the world's biggest gold nugget ever found, that weights 61 pounds.

The most famous mine owner in the history of Nevada was George Wingfield. He also owned every bank in the state. Goldfield Consolidated Mines Company, that he ran together with senator (at that time) George S. Nixon, made them both multi-millionaires.

The other "gold mine" of the state of Nevada is gambling, since gaming activities were legalised in 1931. In 2003, the gross gaming revenue in Las Vegas was $7,673,489,000.

This "gold mine" closed its doors only one time in history: on November 25^th 1963, for the national mourning of the assassinated president George Kennedy. History didn't repeat itself in the first days after September 11. In fact, Americans asked in surveys on this subject saw Las Vegas as a place to escape the tension.

1)Make it a point to communicate with other people - particularly family and friends. It helps to have people close to you whom you can trust when you share the feelings of rejection you are experiencing. Even famous people find it beneficial to have a certain group of confidantes whom they can confide in and who they trust will support them through times of rejection.

2)Keep a diary. In this diary, you will jot down details about events that affect you and how any feelings of rejection may have come about. The nice thing about a diary is (in the words of the writer Anne Frank) paper is patient. Meaning, no matter how bad you feel and how angst-ridden you get on paper, the diary will always be available for you to write in. Make the diary a catharsis for your emotions so you will not brood about how you were rejected.

3)Yes, paper is patient - so why not write the person who rejected you a letter? In this letter you will express all your bad feelings. The nice thing is, you will never send this letter to the person who rejected you. The purpose of this exercise is to help you get rid of your feelings of rejection then bounce back to normal.

Now, perhaps you tried all these methods but you still hurt inside. Well, in cases like this, you may do well to practice avoidance instead. Avoidance means:

1)Steering clear of places where you might run into the person who rejected you - at least, until you feel up to a confrontation with the person.

2)Dodging friends whom you and the person who rejected you have in common. Like avoiding places, avoiding common friends gives you space to let time heal your wounds. Common friends might ask awkward questions that you just are not ready to answer.

3)Taking different routes to school, home or work - that way, you will most likely not run into familiar places or people that would remind you of the person who rejected you.

Another method you could try out is to stop yourself from attempting to control the other person. It is inevitable that you might attempt to exert control over the person, particularly if he or she is close to you. If you keep trying to control the other person, you may only wind up getting rejected all over again.

Bear in mind that as you try to get over your feelings of rejection, you must try to take as good care of yourself as possible. It is possible to make yourself physically ill by brooding on feelings of rejection. Take care of yourself by:

1)Eating healthy and nutritious food. Some research shows that stress (such as that caused by conflict) can cause people to develop nutritional deficiencies.

2)Sleep well. If you find that you feel exhausted after a confrontation, treat yourself to a well-deserved nap. Sleep will help you feel much better.

3)Get enough exercise. A robust jog, or a lap in the pool has the potential to make you feel better. This is because of the endorphins that are released by your body during exercise.

You may know of some other ways to deal with rejection. But do take note of these ways of dealing with rejection and try them out.

The players who lose Round 1 are out of the game, unlessand this is a recent amendmentthey wish to pay another registration fee and begin again. The winner is not required to pay any additional fee. Prizes are sometimes awarded to the winners of the round. Round 2 continues much as Round 1, with the same betting limits and rules. Players must keep their chips visible to the other players. At the end of the two-hour play, the person with the most chips is declared the winner.

At the end of a round, each player gets to keep the chips in front of him or her. So even if the other five players at the table are deemed losers of the round, they may still be ahead if they each finish with more than $600, which was the entry fee. At the end of the round, the chips are cashed in, because they are not good for any other game in the casino. At the end of Round 3, the winners are in what is called the Championship Playoff, and eligible to win as much as $75,000 in cash. That winner will be awarded a champion title, and likely a beautiful trophy, as well as a considerable amount of prestige.

The winners of Rounds 1, 2, and 3 receive bonus prizes of $25,000, $40,000, and $60,000 respectively, and nine runner- up prizes are awarded. Any country that has 12 million people crossing its borders illegally, would realize an invasion is going on. The citizens of the United States realize we are being invaded and are coming to understand that our politicians simply do not care. One of the biggest opponents of border security and proponents of amnesty is the United States Chamber of Commerce. The United States Chamber of Commerce represents all the major corporation of our country and they could care less what the average American citizen wants. Now I am all for capitalism, but a capitalism without patriotism will be the end of our great Republic.

Civilizations have come and gone throughout history. What Rome took with the sword, Corporations now take with a pen, a huge bankroll, influence of corrupt politicians and the might of the United States Military Machine. The elite corporations of our world move jobs, people, equipment and merchandise across borders with their only loyalty to the corporation and corporate profit. United States manufacturers claim they can not turn a profit without cheap foreign labor. Yet Japanese manufacturers have moved their manufacturing facilities here, are paying good wages, and are doing even better than our American Corporations. The same corporations that have virtually all manufacturing conducted outside of the United States, in third world countries.

Many corporations that do not move out of the United States, try to circumvent paying a decent wage to Americans by hiring illegal aliens. I know of a property management company in Denver that has over 1,000 illegal aliens on its cleaning payroll. These corporations would like us to believe that the illegals are doing jobs Americans will not. That is simply not true. They are doing jobs at wages Americans can not afford. Americans don't live in small apartments with 3 or more families, with everyone sleeping in shifts. We will do their work, but only at a decent wage.

So, is America ready for Ron Paul? My opinion, America was ready for Ron Paul the day President Bill Clinton signed the NAFTA agreement with the full support of President Reagan and President Bush. The saying in my circle of friends is the Democrats and Republicans are both taking us to the same place, they just take different roads.

Ron Paul believes in the Constitution of the United States and does not vote on anything that would contradict what our Constitution says. With Ron Paul as President we would not be going into a war unless Congress declared war. Besides being the legal way to declare war, that eliminates the flakes in Congress from playing the blame game at election time. Ron Paul does not believe in treaties with foreign countries and would work to pull us out of all the foreign entanglements we are currently in. No more United Nations, no more NAFTA, CAFTA or NATO, etc. The truth is, we don't need these countries as much as they need us and being in these treaties is costing us a fortune.

Ron Paul believes in low taxes, a small government and generally, the government staying out of your business. Just think what kind of budget the United States would have if we did not have to finance an overseas military and the IRS, among others.

So will Americans vote for Ron Paul? Well, the extreme left will not. They are to stuck on feel good politics. For the extreme left, it feels great to take money out of a hardworking Americans pocket and give it to a pet charity. Besides Ron Paul believes in a right to life. So even if the country was in decimation and ruin, the extreme left would be afraid of loosing the right to an abortion. The hard working blue collar American whether on the left or right should be ready for Ron Paul's message. After all, what hard working blue collar worker likes to see their children die in a war for oil, wants to pay more in taxes so corporations can get tax breaks for sending their jobs overseas, or enjoys watching illegal aliens cross the border nightly on the news?

People come from various backgrounds in support for Ron Paul. Supporters of Ron Paul may not all agree with each other, but we can agree on his message. Bill Clinton was virtually unknown to most Americans when he started his race for the presidency. Wood Frame Wood Frame is the oldest, most time tested method of building houses. Wood is a readily available, easily processed, renewable material that is lightweight, reliable and durable (relatively so) and coast less than many other systems, depending on geographic considerations. Wood framing is utilized in most areas of the country and despite what many will tell you, in this country, it does not deplete the resources due to the excellent management practices of the Forestry industry. The disadvantages of wood include a unacceptability to termites, moisture (mold) and fire.

Structural Insulated Panels - SIPS's, as they are called are a relatively new system that appeared on the market in the last 20 25 years. There is much to like about the system and it is gaining in familiarity and popularity as time goes on. A structural Insulated Panel combines a wood structural grade OSB (Oriented Strand Board) that is used to sandwich a core of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene or Polyisocyanurate foam. The foam is injected between the cores and expands the depth of the panel to a thickness of 6 and acts like a glue producing a integrated panel that is incredibly strong. SIP's also offer an airtight barrier against wind infiltration and the R-Value of the panel. SIP's have been tested and shown R-Values (measurement of the ability of the material to resist the transfer of cold through the material) for the panel of R 22 @ 75 degrees and R 24 @ 40 degrees. The foam core also reduces air infiltration significantly and will also reduce sound transmission through the wall.

SIP's are partially wood so that the same caveats apply to them as wood framed structures. You must make sure that moisture control is effectively addressed in your design and you must maintain a termite contract and bond on the home if it located in an area where termites are a problem.

Steel Frame Steel Framed homes are similar to wood structures in mechanics and practice with 2 important differences, they are impervious to termites (with the exception of wood floor sheathing common to them) and they are also fire resistant. They are also somewhat stronger than wood structures.

The terminology and method are similar except that the structure is screwed together. You are using steel studs and trusses instead of wood. Steel framed homes do not perform as well from and energy perspective in colder climates and sometimes the colder climates can make the steel studs translate through the exterior sheathing of certain systems (you can see the outline of the stud). You will enjoy lower cost in terms of insurance, but the costs of erection and the materials (especially given the current price of oil) will be significantly higher that a wood frame home. However all that aside, they are a very viable alternative for warmer climates, especially those with high susceptibility to termites, mold and high winds.

Masonry Used to denote brick house. These days it is more associated with concrete block. Concrete block homes are extremely strong, termites will not eat them and they do not burn (although most have wooded roof structures). They are ideal in coastal regions. They are not ideal in northern climes where temperatures fall to below 40 degrees. The R-value of the exterior walls will be lower (less resistant to cold) with such a system. But in the Southern Tier (Texas, Florida, Arizona, etc.) they are an ideal alternative.

These are the primary systems homeowners select for their projects. The full range of factors you must consider are:

Cost of the installed system.

Availability of labor and materials in your market.

Energy efficiency.

Resistance to the local wind loads and seismic conditions.

Acceptance in the general market.

Look around. What you see the local builders using as a system will tell you what the local buying public prefers. Builders are not, as a whole big on experimentation and they stick to what is cost effective and accepted by the market. Take a clue for them and carefully consider if you wish to be experimenting with a system not prevalent in your market. That said, investigate fully, because there are perfectly viable alternatives and given your circumstances it may fit for you to select on of the alternatives.
